The Heartbeat of RedLife
The origin of the name “Redemption Life Church” can very simply be wrapped up in one word: God. While getting some “cardio” in at the gym, the Spirit of the Lord dropped this name into the spirit of Pastor Justin Bradley, with a clear mandate – THIS IS THE NAME OF THE CHURCH YOU ARE TO PLANT.
Redemption in the New Testament means “to purchase, or buy back” or “to release by payment of ransom”. Colossians 1:13-14 says, “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have REDEMPTION, the forgiveness of sins”. The work of Christ on the cross was the ransom payment for mankind, bringing them release. Redemption Life Church exists to let the people of our world know that the payment has been made on their behalf, the debt they owe has been taken care of, and that they can experience freedom in Jesus Christ.
Redemption is one of the most powerful forces on earth for several reasons. For one, redemption means a change of ownership. When we experience the redemption of Christ we are no longer slaves to darkness and sin but we belong to Jesus, and become citizens in the Kingdom of God. There are hundreds crying out for redemption in Brookville and Franklin County, and don’t know where to find it. Redemption Life Church exists to point the way to Jesus as our only true redemption.
Another element of redemption is the fact that redemption carries with it a new way of life, by way of our new citizenship. RedLife Church exists to teach Biblical principles for living the REDEEMED LIFE; THE “RED” LIFE. This means discovering who you are, who God created to you to be, and being released to use your gifts and abilities to glorify God and lead others to the Red Life.
Redemption also places value on the object being redeemed. Romans 5:8 says “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Jesus has shown us the value he places on people by way of the huge price He was willing to pay. Redemption Life Church places value on all people, and we show them that by the price we pay to minister to all people from the smallest child to the most senior adult. Every person is valuable to God and therefore every person is valuable to RedLife Church. We value numbers at RedLife, because every number has a name, every name has a story, and every story matters to God.
Romans 8:19 says that creation is crying out for redemption. That includes the thousands of people living in Franklin County and Brookville, Indiana. RedLife Church exists to bring people to a full revelation and understanding of the redemption offered to them in Jesus Christ.
Our mission is summed up in one word - R.E.D. (Reach, Encourage, Disciple)
We exist to REACH the un-churched and the de-churched with the life-changing message of the Gospel. The "un-churched" represents those who have not ever really explored Christianity, or a relationship with Jesus. The "de-churched" represents those that have at one time or another, pursued Christ, but for what ever reason, got burnt out on "church" as usual.
We exist to ENCOURAGE people to "taste and see that the Lord is good" (Ps. 34:8). We do this by encouraging people to worship God in spirit and in truth by engaging God in passionate worship, and applying His Word to our lives in practical ways.
We exist to DISCIPLE believers. Discipleship involves providing believer's the opportunity to take the next step in their walk with God. That could include attending a New Believers' Class, beginning to tithe and give, joining a RedLife Community Group, or getting plugged into a ministry team.
TO BE A PLACE OF FREEDOM AND ENCOURAGEMENT
Redemption is about freedom. It’s about being released from everything that has held you captive because Jesus paid the ransom. At Redemption Life we want to see everyone walk in the freedom that Jesus died to give them. Specific areas of bondage we are committed to confront include addictions, religion, hurts/abuse, pride, poverty, and complacency.
At Redemption Life we are concerned with building you up rather than tearing you down. We are committed to being a ramp that helps elevate people to the Red Life God desires them to live. This means we want to encourage people to discover Christ, learn who they are in Christ, and be empowered to use their God-given gifts to become vessels of redemption.
Beyond why we exist (our mission) and what we want to see (our vision) these are the ideals we hold in high esteem, and strive to maintain in our everyday operations.
These are the things at the very core of who we are as a church. These “core values” are what make up the ministry model, or DNA, of Redemption Life Church. They are in no particular order of importance as all are equally valued and important.
1. MORE THAN HAVING CHURCH, BEING THE CHURCH.
In Matthew 16:18, Jesus describes the church as a powerful force in the world that Hell itself could not stop. That certainly sounds like more than meeting a couple times of week, in a building, singing a couple of songs, listening to some teaching, praying and then waiting until we come back for the next service. At Redemption Life Church we believe God has called us to do more than have church, but to be the church. We realize that the church is more than a building, but it is a group of people assembled under a common banner – the Lord Jesus Christ. That means that the church is everywhere we go. We want to take the church outside the four walls of our building into the places where people are.
2. BUILDING PEOPLE, NOT JUST BUILDINGS.
We believe that God has a plan and purpose for every, single person on this planet, regardless of their economic, family, or social background. At Redemption Life Church, we put an emphasis on building people to be all that God has called them to be. Through worship experiences, Biblical teaching, and opportunities to grow through serving, we want to see you develop the destiny and dream that God has for your life. Therefore, we strive to make people feel loved, accepted and welcome regardless of who they are or where they are from. We work hard to create an environment where people feel the love of God through His church.
3. NOT JUST SURFACE FRIENDSHIPS, BUT AUTHENTIC RELATIONSHIPS.
Much of what Jesus taught deals not only with our relationship with God, but with our relationship with each other. Paul describes the church in New Testament as a “body”. Like it or not, our faith joins us together. At Redemption Life Church, we believe God intends for believers to have real, meaningful, authentic relationships with one another. Proverbs 27:17 says that “as iron sharpens iron; so one man sharpens another.” God wants to use relationships in our lives to sharpen us, and to mold us into what He has called us to be.
4. LIVING THE RED LIFE IS AN EXCITING JOURNEY, NOT A BORING CHORE.
Many people view Christianity as a boring list of do’s and don’ts, while that is the exact opposite of Christianity. Jesus said in John 10 that He had come to give us life, and that MORE ABUNDANTLY. God desires for His people to live a life of adventurous faith that takes us to places we never dreamed possible. This exciting, God kind of life translates into passionate and enthusiastic worship, dynamic teaching and preaching, and a desire to reflect that life in everything we do.
5. SPIRIT-SENSITIVE, SPIRIT-LED, SPIRIT EMPOWERED.
Acts 1:8 says that we will receive power after the Holy Ghost has come upon us. Jesus told his disciples in Luke 24:49 to wait until they had been “clothed with power”. The Holy Spirit gives the church God’s power to do the work of ministry. At Redemption Life Church, we don’t just want to be sensitive to the needs of people but we want to be sensitive to how the Spirit of God wants to meet those needs.
6. REAL LIFE ISSUES, NOT JUST CREEDS AND DOCTRINES.
While we hold fast to our statements of faith as an anchor for our theology and beliefs, we believe that God wants to deal with real life, nitty-gritty issues that we face everyday. Jesus told us that God has the very hairs of our head numbered. If God would concern himself with that, how much more does He want to speak to us about what matters to us today. At Redemption Life Church, we apply God’s word and Biblical principles to real life issues that we all face along life’s journey.
